Sorry about the sporadic posting. In midst of Fun-A-Day and the usual hermetical busy-ness that I toss myself into. These charming winter kids would like to give you some candy to thank you for your patience! But you don't know these kids. I don't know them either. They're not from my Fun-A-Day capers; they just showed up one day in my sketch book. Would you accept candy from strangers?

The day after Christmas, my friend Digger and I returned to the steel factory in Jamestown, NY.
We hadn't been there since summer 2007.
Some things have changed. Its photogenity (a real word?) has not!

Biggest change? One wall had fallen and there are huge holes in the roof. Structurally unsound much? We decided that if we heard any creaking, we'd just run for it. As good a story as it could be, pulling my friend out from under ceiling steel is NOT how I wanted to spend Christmas.

We decided that this machine is Bender's great great great great great grandfather.

When you walk around, it becomes evident that something's going on here. All the desks are gone and the wall demolition doesn't look like an accident. But there are no construction vehicles around and no sense of organization. There's evidence of squatters, but usually squatters improve and build up the place... not blow holes in the ceiling. Who are they, and where are they taking the remains?

Emily will GIVE you... delicious sugar! For Christmas this year, family and friends received a batch of tangerine sugar made in my kitchen. I'll never be intimidated by citrus zest again. I simply like stirring a half-teaspoon of it into my tea. My cousin made blueberry muffins with some of hers. Here's the recipe for the sugar.

For the tag I made a run of linoleum block prints because I'm desperate to start printmaking again, but screen printing is tedious and expensive right now.

Iiiiiiiiiii was drunk when I drew this. Yup.

Some artists friends and I are starting a rotating sketchbook project. Here's a mask I drew for my last entry. I want to make a small series of drawings of masks based on objects people normally put to their faces. This one takes its cue from a camera.

Aachi & Ssipak? Hell yeah! This movie needs to get out there more. It's one exploding cigar of an animated movie. Go Korea go!

This is a manly mook, who appreciates the art of a real shave, with a real man's/mook's straight razor. But I don't know what the "Bancha"s for.

Still writing over here. Filling sketchbooks faster than ever. Mostly things that will never see the light of a scanner, but I have an idea for drawing mist that I got from reading "From Hell" by Eddie Campbell (which was way to dense for me to read in one library holding, so I had to buy the brick of a book).

Autumn is coming. It's Srom's favorite season! It just makes Mona sleepy.
