This isn't a great photo, I know. The thing's much too big for my scanner (the height's over four feet!), and the ink's too shiny for me to easily photograph it. I'll take a better one later, if I remember to. Really it deserves a better photo. The image started haunting me before Thanksgiving last year, and I finally got it out of my system yesterday.
I want/need to work larger, but it's hard to share the finished work. Luckily the existance of matte black ink has come to my attention. A new toy to acquire and play with! Hooray!

Soon this will be a beautiful 18x24 poster print, and you can buy it! My friend HeatherRose got together with The Rabbit Hole in Fitchburg, MA, again to organize a poster show, and she asked me to contribute something. The theme was music, with a sort of gigposter influence (lettering!). I've wanted to revisit dead tree branch wings–a personal symbol for uselessness–for a while, and of course I have to throw in a ukulele too.
I made some detail shots into desktop wallpapers, and threw them on my deviantArt account. Download, engage, and enjoy from here.

Here is something I made…
Did you even know that Moleskinne books came in red? They don't have these around where I live, so when I saw this online I bought it right away.
This is the reason I bought it. I got a brand new oh so pretty iPod touch with my tax return (it took ten years, but I finaly have an ipod), but couldn't find a case for it that wasn't made without abusing people or the environment. So I borrowed some mod podge from the office and made my own. I pretty much stole the idea from here.
The Kindle app makes seem like a book of the future! You can read public doman books of the past for free with it!

And the back pocket still works.
Lately I just hate scanning, so you'll have to wait for any graphic art stuff. Hope you like my book-making/modding skills in its place!

This is six months old or so. Since illustrating this news story, I've second-guessed my hack-job German. I'm pretty sure it should be Keine mehr Pillen.
You can read the original headline here.

Sigh. Let this be a lesson for me. But here it is, and here's me being honest with you, and here's info on the show. All proceeds from the silent auction go to the Red Cross.

I promised myself that I wouldn't put "fan art" here, but it couldn't be helped. Aku draws himself; he's just that good of a character design.
I can hear my older brother laughing at me through the internet. (He compared me to Aku once.) Whatever, man. I'm still patiently waiting for that Samurai Jack movie to come out.

Oh, finaly a not-Queequeg! Not that that makes it better than a Queequeg, but still.
My favorite pen has been resurrected. It's a size M Schaeffer calligraphy pen that takes those little tubes of ink refills. I put it away years ago because the ink bleeds through acrylic paints when I just want the lines to stay covered, but then I picked it up again and damn it feels so good to draw with! Well, after I got all the dried ink crap out of the nib, it did.
The Decemberists' "The Legionaire's Lament" came up on shuffle mode as I was drawing. Perhaps my burn-out with that band's music has lightened?

Then, I was bummed out and hadn't picked up a pencil to draw for a few weeks. Then I came across the meme where you draw your 10 favorite characters and have people guess them, and used it to force myself to get back on my feet. Amongst Katchoo, Roger Sterling, and Daleks, was Queequeg!
And it was all downhill from there…
