Within the first five pages of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, the narrator speaks of red-winged black birds. Apparently he's the only one impressed by them. Maybe a hand-knit one would be more impressive?

The black bird's for Fun-A-Day, and they're both derived from the Little Birds knitting pattern that I adore. Maybe next year will be just frikkin Little-Bird-A-Day for me, since I've knit three more since I finished the black bird. It would certainly help with my ever-growing yarn stash, jeez!
